Behind the Black Door

Behind the black door we discover classic style with coastal touches...

Seeing the inviting entrance, with it's symmetrical topiaries and a peek of the stairs, immediately you have a sense that what lies beyond will be classic and stylish. The interior designers, AGK Design studio have created a timeless interior in a traditional style. Coastal touches can be seen in vignette's and detailing such as the anchor knocker on the front door. The dark herringbone floors are a stunning contrast to the white walls and ceilings in this light filled home.

Above: I love door knockers with personality. I found a small range of coastal themed door knockers including a sail boat at Nantucket brand
Above: Entrances always take their fare share of wear and tear so using a durable material on the floor is a wise decision. Rustic style tiles laid in a herringbone effect add lots of texture

Above: Utilising small areas such as this landing with bookshelves is a great way of increasing storage and adding interest

Above: I love a traditional style kitchen but I am not quite sure of my feelings on the shape of the range hood

Above: Trellis wallpaper compliments the design of the dining room chairs

Above: Creating a vignette with a nautical feeling can be as simple as selecting a few key pieces such as the coral, the carved, wooden whale and adding traditional blue and white

Above: I have never been brave enough to paint a wall navy blue in my home, however I am still debating the back of the book shelves in the living room

Above: blue and white is a popular combination but not often is it mixed with green. I remember my mother used to say "blue and green should not be seen without a colour in between", it certainly doesn't apply to this room

Above: Detailing can add so much character to a flat surface

If you love the interior style of this home you may want to visit AGK Design studio to see more of their work, I have placed a link above.
