Nantucket Summer House

I have a penchant for blue that is increasing by the minute, in fact in a few weeks time I may, and I state, "may", take the plunge and try painting an area in my house a similar colour to the hallway above. For me blue is the perfect contrast to white and immediately has me thinking about summer holidays and wouldn't it be lovely to have a summer holiday feeling year round.

This cute Nantucket summer house caught my eye when I was looking for blue and white projects. The renovation is by Pinemar Inc, who are award winning residential home builders specialising in high end remodels, additions, historic restorations and custom homes. The Interior design of the home is by T Keller Donovan.

Above: I have just bought some vintage nautical photos similar to the one above. I have had mine framed for my hallway which I will share on the blog next week

In contrast to the blue and white two upstairs bedrooms...

  1. I love blue, most of my house is painted blue, I just painted my laundry a sapphire blue. My lounge and dinning are a soft French blue as I'm going for that coastal/hamptons look!

    1. Your house sounds very interesting, would love to see some images Nola, do you live in New Zealand or one of my overseas readers?

My house is gradually becoming more coastal, my bedroom will feature next week and tomorrow I am going to share a mini makeover on my hallway which definitely has a coastal vibe going on after I purchased some fabulous vintage yacht photographs and framed them like the gorgeous black and white Ralph Lauren prints you see on their site.

Thank you for taking time to comment and would love to see photos of your house. My email address is on my home page info.

  2. Hi Lee,
Well, you know me and blue and white! I like the calmness of this home and the pattern, but not sure i like the window valances, to me they are a bit dated.

    1. I have tried three times to add a reply to your comment Jane, no idea why it won't publish....'fourth time lucky' :)..I agree a little with the window valences, however I think the designer was using them to introduce or balance pattern.

I am going to be very brave and paint the back of my book shelf dark blue, possibly I may do stripes, mulling it over at the moment.
