A Designer's Magic Touch For a New England Coastal Home - Part 1

Today's blog post features another Lisa Tharp design, showcasing a beautifully renovated salt box home. Lisa believes, "the quality of our surroundings and our actual quality of life are inextricably linked", I myself am a huge believer in this and one of the main reasons I am so passionate about design.

Photographing a Holiday Rental

Above - A holiday rental beautifully styled and photographed for a client by Vanessa Wood Interiors

My blog is very much about beautiful images and the beach homes featured, often have me dreaming of summer holidays by the sea. Why then, do many holiday rentals use boring and uninviting photos, it's no wonder when you check their availability they have few bookings. It doesn't take much to have a holiday home look utterly irresistible when it is beautifully decorated and photographed correctly.

Latest update on my Papamoa Beach House

2. Above: The top part of the pantry, there are four drawers beneath (out of view)

If you follow my blog you will know that late last year I bought a house and land package in sunny Bay of Plenty. Although it was a package deal, this is no ordinary home and no ordinary builder. Aaron and his wife are the design duo behind Paradise homes and The Gourmet Kitchen Company and between them they add finesse to their homes that definitely make them stand out.

Another Stunning Brisbane Project by Interior Designers Verandah House

Still one handed hence no chance to post last week as the swelling wasn't going down, but loving this gorgeous Brisbane interior enough to struggle again with one finger. My stitches are due out this afternoon and hopefully with physio I can get back to blogging and finishing my latest piece of art.

Brooklyn to Waterfront - Design by Chango & Co

I have no idea what happened with yesterday's post, it was about my new beach house but for some odd reason it is not showing on blogger as my last post..odd! I do hope everyone received an email update about it and that you will join me on the journey of the progress of the house. Today however, I wanted to share the home of a couple who relocated from Brooklyn to a beautiful waterfront home.

My New Build Beach House - Follow the Journey

I have been a little secretive the past few weeks hinting at something I wanted to share but have I've been so preoccupied with my eldest son's wedding that I haven't had time to post. However, today is the day I can share my news and some photos of the progress of the new beach house I have purchased.

The Importance of Texture When Decorating a Room

I scour thousands of images in my pursuit as a design blogger and there is one thing that stands out in the rooms I love and that is the 'T' word...Texture, texture and more texture. If you love neutral interiors then texture is going to be your best friend. Texture can come in many forms, it may be as obvious as a rattan chair, textured ceramic, or the subtlety of a piece of fabric, so let's find out how texture can help define a space.

Coastal Style With A Touch of Glamour

While my readers in other parts of the world are facing cold and snow, in New Zealand we are experiencing one of the best summers we have had for many years. I am enjoying early morning walks along the beach with Poppy and the long balmy evenings. This warm weather is drawing me further away from the French style I used to love and more towards coastal interiors. I think the gentle colours and overall look of a coastal interior is generally more relaxed and makes one feel as if they are permanently on holiday, like this interior by Digs Design Company.

Colour and Pattern Rule In a Beachside Apartment

I don't want people to think that I am not about colour, I do realise that most of the homes I feature tend to have a neutral palette, or feature blue and white. However, I actually love colour as long as it doesn't overpower. This gorgeous Sydney, beach-side apartment, is the perfect example of infusing colour and pattern using artwork, textiles and rugs.

View Five of The Top Most Popular Home Tours From 2014

Some of the most popular blog posts on Lee Caroline are the home tours, character houses with tastefully decorated interiors. Many of these interiors may have been designed by professional designers, however when I choose interiors to share with you, I strive to find homes that are beautifully designed, without being overly contrived, lived in and loved spaces I know my readers will enjoy.

Relaxed Living Spaces

1
Gone is the separate formal lounge of the past, today's living is about being able to interact with family and friends while in different work or relaxation zones of your home. When it comes to designing a space that is open-plan it is important that there is continuity in the interior design. As well as your choice of furniture style, it is important to look carefully at the layout to make sure that all your areas 'flow' and it is easy for people to move from one space to another. I have gathered some interior design inspiration to give you an idea of relaxed, open plan spaces and have also included some cosy living areas that I feel are aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as having a functional layout.

New England, Coastal Style by Interior Designer Lisa Tharp

Light filled, restful spaces and interesting artwork, drew me to an interior by Designer, Lisa Tharp. Design New England Magazine describes Lisa's work; "Where beach meets Soho". Lisa uses neutral colours and coastal inspired artwork to complete this Boston project.
