Just a brief post today, I stumbled upon these pretty shelves on House to Home. Albeit a pro stylist has added accessories to help sell the bookcase. Nevertheless, sometimes we can clutter up shelves trying to display too much. These simple pieces evoke a sweet country look that's clean and fresh. Dining or kitchen this look wins for me! I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of my readers have a similar bookshelf in dark wood lurking around your home from years ago. Just imagine how a coat of white paint, or even a "French wash" similar to the wash I used on my antique table can give you a completely new look.
Hope you had a wonderful Mothers Day weekend

Ha ha, we have a very similar bookcase, which we took down to our local spray painter - he gave it a professional coat of white paint, and it looks fab. xxx
ReplyDeleteI have one too Vic that I gave a friend to look after 13 years ago when I went overseas, I haven't the heart to ask for any of the things back that friends stored for me as it was only meant to be a couple of years. Would love to see some photos of what you have on your shelves to share with my readers.

Love this simple uncluttered style, Lee. But it is true that we are tempted to display all of our treasures in one go! I guess we have to practice a little restraint!
ReplyDeleteWhat I like to do Kifus is to change displays from time to time and keep a bit of interest. Friends, always notice when I display things differently so a lot of my clutter is hidden away and pops out once in a while.

I love my white bookcase, it's so simple and just the best way to showcase my favourite things! xo K
ReplyDeleteLove the bookshelf. I would love something attached to the wall like this to look like a built in. The white wash is my fave!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of the white, what a difference a coat of white paint can make...and oh my goodness those beautiful lavender flowers draped on the top shelf...
