A Former Ancient School Building Is Transformed by Interior Designer Mikel Larrinaga

Once a former school in the Provence of Burgos, Spain. Interior designer, Mikel Larrinaga has brought new life to what had become a dilapidated building.

An open plan living/dining area, originally the main classroom, is now the heart of the home. The former teachers office has become the kitchen. Each step of this project, Mikel has tried to retain as much of the original building as possible. All the materials are either re-used or sourced locally such as the roof tiles on the extension which come from a nearby house that was being demolished. Mikel has faithfully restored the old school, adding all the elements required to live comfortably in the country.

I hope you have enjoyed this home tour and been inspired by it. I have added a few ideas to my Pinterest 'Home Ideas Board' which incorporates many ideas I would like to inject in some form or other, into the house I hope to build in a few years time. I also have a 'Houzz' board of inspiration for my dream home.

    1. Thanks Patti, the covered patio might be my favourite spot, imagine those long balmy summer nights the Spanish weather may bring :)
