Interior Design - Finishing Touches - Foliage Displays, Kelly Hoppen Style

Deciding 'faux' is no longer fab, I have been seeking inspiration for fresh foliage displays. Last week I featured Interior Designer Kelly Hoppen's elegant style, Kelly's final touches to her room designs, consist of simple foliage displays that look stunning.

Kelly rarely uses colour in her floral pieces, mainly green foliage and simple white flowers. In her kitchen on the large island ( seen below), Kelly features four glass cylinders with topiaries. Not only are they effective, they also help to create division in her large open plan  living space.

Kelly favours white hydrangeas, green hydrangea heads, tiny succulents, lilies, moss balls, nude and white roses and topiaries. I don't have the space to do something as extravagant as three topiaries, however I do have a few ideas in my head and will be on the look out for some nice containers this weekend.

Below: Kelly's finishing touches...

Above: small succulents are effective, grouped and wrapped in moss. A low dish such as this is a great option on a coffee table or dining table.

Above: small moss balls look effective grouped in cylindrical glasses. A row of three or group of 4 could also be used in smaller space.

Above: When using tall containers, using taller plants will create a more stunning effect

Above: Group in three's - Orchids are expensive but look better if you have several plants together in one pot. If you feed them regularly you should get many seasons of flowering.  Make sure you leave around 20cm of the stem when they have died back, this helps to encourage new shoots.

Above: Simple hydrangeas, arrange them so their stems criss-cross rather than trying to stand them upright.

  1. Hi Lee! How inspiring, I love the succulents in the round bowls and the moss in the small glass cups. I will have to give that a try, what a great idea!
