I have a collection of Chinoiserie ginger jars that I can't seem to part with, in fact I am still collecting and the small one above is my latest acquisition and part of a pair. These pretty decorator jars suit most decorating styles, from eclectic to coastal and of course traditional. Still looking for a place to display them, I set out to discover some inspiration.
A ginger jar is the perfect decorator piece, grouped together they can make a fabulous display (an odd number is best). A larger piece can look stunning on its own, either on a table top or on the floor beneath a console. Maybe you just want to display pretty flowers by removing the lid and using one as a vase. Bright coloured flowers look wonderful contrasted against blue and white, especially vibrant pink, orange or sunny yellow.

Still thinking about what to do with my two small jars, I may use them on my mantelpiece but will update you when I have found that perfect spot.

ReplyDeleteI agree Kathryn, its timeless and when I get a little over it I put it away for a while and then find myself bringing it out again within a few months.
