A newly built home can still have character and flair and this Florida home has plenty of both in it's architecture and relaxed, beach style interior.

Custom built with the sea on the doorstep, Interior Designer, Debbie Perez of 'Tweak Your Space', has created a relaxed interior reflecting the owner's love of the coast in this beach side home. Debbie says she has blended elements from New England and Florida beach homes to create the look. Plenty of texture can be seen with the use of natural materials such as stone, shingles, wood, linen and sisal, all these elements help create a coastal feel. As you can see, Debbie has had fun with the children's bedrooms keeping the nautical theme in the owner's son's room and a more feminine, pretty in pink theme in their little girl's room.

Above: Every home should have a piece of antique furniture and this painted chest in the entry brings warmth and an inviting feel to the home. If you cannot afford to buy antiques you could achieve a similar look on a vintage piece of furniture with Chalk Paint® and stencils from Annie Sloan's range. I love the idea of the old filing drawer which has been re-purposed as a vase for the hydrangeas

Above: Going bold can mean something as simple as using a stronger colour on a piece of furniture. The cape cod shingles on the wall give an outdoor feel to this quirky breakfast area

Above: The addition of the rope alongside the sisal carpeting on the staircase further extends the nautical feel. This is  a simple touch that would be easy to replicate

Above: A chippy paint finish to a small table - You could achieve a similar look using two coats of Annie Sloan's Pure white Chalk Paint® as a base coat and then dry brushing duck egg blue over and when dry, sanding back in places being careful not to sand through the Pure White of course or you will end up with the original wood showing through

Above: What little girl doesn't want a pink room. The pretty chandelier adds that finishing touch
