Coastal Sophistication in South Carolina

"Casual and sophisticated, modern and timeless, serene but colourful" is how the designer describes this relaxed, South Carolina home.

A Traditional Sag Harbour Cottage

Mention the Hamptons to a designer and it not only identifies an area it conjures up an image of a specific style of decorating that has become extremely popular throughout the world.

Which Shade of Blue Denotes a Restful Interior

Design by Cottage Company of Harbor Springs

Blue and white are my favourite combination, however as blue comes in many shades and tones, what blue works best if you want to create a restful atmosphere.

Perfectly Charming Home in Balboa

I cannot praise the designers at Black Band enough, everything they touch is just so perfect, from the grandest homes to more modest projects, design and function are perfectly thought out. This project may be smaller in size, however it is certainly not small on design.

Hamptons Style on the Sunshine Coast

Although we Kiwi's claim the 'pavlova' as ours, looking at this gorgeous Sunshine Coast home, I believe that Hamptons style may have snuck into Aussie first.

Hamptons Style in Queensland

Today I want to share a gorgeous home, a bit closer to home, well only 3 hours flight away in Queensland, Australia. Hamptons is a classic, timeless design that is easy to live with and pretty much timeless. It is the perfect style for a grand 'Queenslander' or new build Hamptons style architecture.

Beautiful Hamptons Beach House - Part One

This stunning home epitomises all that a beach house should be with its calm, coastal appeal, yet at the same time it feels sophisticated and its light filled, organic aura must welcome all that visit her. Of course, little coastal touches have been included but far from overdone, this beautiful home is a long way from the humble kiwi beach bach.

Summer Loving, Los Angeles - Summer Patio Ideas

1. Above - Light grey is a great colour for the exterior of a house. If you have other out buildings in view, keep the same colour palette.

Since my little art studio was finished, it has meant an entire shake up of my rather tired deck and "lawn-less" back garden. In fact, I now realise more than ever how the patio/deck and garden definitely need to be an extension of your indoor living. This means a great flow from indoors to outdoors, the style of outdoor furniture, landscaping and those all important finishing touches as seen in the patio and pool area of this Californian home.

The Perfect Home Office/Study 'Nook'

I am finally back after a long Christmas/New Year break from the blog and I've have had a pretty lazy holiday, apart from Christmas day where I had 11 for lunch but it was all fun. I have however, been working on re-landscaping my tiny back garden and thinking about re-locating my old office into my new studio, in saying that I don't want it to become an entire office, I was thinking more a small built in area or a floating desk. Office nooks are becoming popular and with the smaller home builds architects and interior designers are becoming very clever at creating these perfectly formed and aesthetically pleasing spaces.

A Contemporary, Californian Farmhouse

As a design blogger, I am constantly looking at beautiful homes and gathering ideas for myself and others and I believe this exposure has influenced me greatly in being a little more adventurous with my own interior style. I used to have a house full of antique pieces but now I prefer a mix of contemporary and traditional furniture. I still love traditional style, however I realise the most interesting spaces are when designers mix things up, especially in a building that has contemporary architecture and this is why I love this Californian Farmhouse so much.

I do hope everyone received an email update about it and that you will join me on the journey of the progress of the house. Today however, I wanted to share the home of a couple who relocated from Brooklyn to a beautiful waterfront home.

Florida Beach Side - Interior Design by Tweak Your Space

Above: Exterior shingles add texture and interest to this fireplace wall

A newly built home can still have character and flair and this Florida home has plenty of both in it's architecture and relaxed, beach style interior.
