A Traditional Interior With a Little 'Jour De Vivre'

Recently I featured a contemporary coastal design from Interior designer, Anna Braund, today I want to share another project by Anna, but this time a modern take on 'traditional'.

Anna Braund was a Top 10 Nominee in HGTV's Fresh Faces of Design Awards and I am not surprised as her projects are stunning. Her designs go from a neutral Hamptons, to bold, brave, colourful projects. I feel that being a 'young' entrepreneur in the design world does have it's advantage as the younger generation seem to have fewer boundaries and restrictions when it comes to interior design (although I might get shouted at here). Anna pushes these boundaries and in this project mixes up antiques and classic furnishing with strong colour and pattern giving this home a little, 'jour de vivre'.

When I talk about boundaries, for example in image 4 (the kitchen), Anna has hung a traditional oil painting below the kitchen cupboards, a simple but unexpected move that really works in this space and so much prettier than staring at subway tiles. Anna has also introduced a bright coloured, abstract painting in the bathroom and incorporated a stool with legs half dipped in gold, reflecting the colour of the traditional style bathroom taps. Bold colours and shapes can be seen in the bedroom and the bright, green trellis wallpaper and door in the hallway certainly make a statement. Overall I feel this design is bold, brave but brilliant and my hat goes off to Anna for another great project.
