Opening the Doors Of A Wisteria Covered Country Home

There is no denying that I am country girl at heart so when I spotted this wisteria covered house, I couldn't resist a peek inside. A totally unspoilt Georgian home set in 20 acres of woodlands and paddocks...sigh! Inside, these period homes can be quite dark, however this Georgian home has been brightened by predominantly using light neutral colours on the walls, the perfect foil for the owners antiques.

Jemma Kidd's Country Home

Most of us are familiar with the name, Jemma Kid, respected not only as a model but also in the equestrian world. Recently, Jemma opened her doors to Elle Decor to share a little of her home and family life.

A Rustic Cabin In The Country - Natural wood and stone merge with earthy linens.

A rustic cabin built in the Polish countryside is home to a couple and their guests.With abundant fresh produce from their neighbours, it is easy to see why Hania and Janusz, felt the need to build their house in the countryside. Although a new build, its beamed ceilings and rustic feel could easily fool you into believing it is much older than its actual age. Earth tones are seen throughout the house, from the floorboards and beams to the stone fireplace. Natural linens in soft muted greys feature in the soft furnishings and blend seamlessly into their surroundings. The combination of subtle colours and natural materials used in this interior, bring a sense of peace and relaxation. Intending to retain a country look without overdoing it, items collected from travels can be seen displayed in pretty vignettes around the house, with a love of chickens evident in the kitchen and dining area. A combination of different textures such as wood, wicker and iron, lend a natural, country feel to this lovely home.

I do love this ceramic chicken - I have a French china one that belonged to my grandmother, the top lifts off to reveal your eggs below, although I believe this one to be an ornament

English Country House Style

Whenever I post an interior which evokes "country", it draws a lot of attention, so I am hoping this interior will do the same. The  location is in Cambridgeshire, England, a county full of  little streams, ancient bridges and beautiful old country homes. This gorgeous home is set in 1.5 acres of lovely gardens with an interior mix of  what I would describe, Country/French style, however, it does have its elements of surprise. The fireplaces  in the sitting and dining rooms are antique French stone and the owners are currently restoring a beautiful herringbone parquet floor to the downstairs of the house. 

One thing I noticed in particular about this interior is the lovely vignettes. Vignette styling can be a bit of an art, however, these owners have perfectly mastered it, if you want some tips on how to create a vignette, I have placed a link to my last post, beneath the images below. Mixed in with the English country style, the owners have cleverly incorporated some contemporary pieces such as the mirrored sphere lights in the living area, they are subtle statement pieces, add interest and are most surely are a talking piece for guests. I think what attracts me most to this beautiful interior is the wide use of interesting textures such as the distressed panels on the wall in the hall with the over sized  bleached wood bowl  below, both standing out against the beautifully polished parquet floors. It shows you how a few statement pieces can be combined to create a stunning look in what would have otherwise been simply been a plain corner.  It goes back to my favourite saying, "A 'house' is just four walls, a 'home' is what you make of it". Adding  special touches and textures such as Marble, French stone and velvet, have helped create a fabulous interior I am sure is a joy to live in. 

And of course a home isn't complete without a cute little dog...
