Today I want to discuss decorating and furnishing a holiday rental, focusing on the living room. I will cover colour palettes, furnishing and decorative tips and my "go to" sofa that won't cost you an arm and a leg, believe me you can still have a gorgeous looking room even on a tight budget.

My Christmas decorations are usually out in full force by now but due to a recent health scare in the family, I am totally unprepared for Christmas and haven't done a thing. Everything is ok now 'health-wise', so I have been madly perusing the web for some ideas for this year. Some are traditional, others a little bit different, I hope you enjoy the mix.

My eight foot Christmas Heirloom tree has been wrapped and stored under my deck the past three years. The first year I managed to find room for it, that was until my Korean cabinet arrived and took up the only space my tree could go. Since then I have had to make do with small, faux trees dotted around the house, this year I have decided to use some small, 'natural' trees as well as faux and have been looking around for some inspiration.
