Home Decor - Botanicals

Image via The original artwork on this wallpaper is by fellow artist Thomas Darnell

Flowers are one of the most beautiful products of nature and it's one of the main reasons as an artist that I concentrate on painting them. I am in awe of their colours, shapes and the effect light and shadow has on their petals and leaves and I am not the only one obsessed with them as you will see by this post.

Home Decor - Pattern with Panache

I would be the first to admit, and I've reiterated many times, although I'm an artist, when it comes to my home, I have a limited use of colour and pattern. However, in this home the designers have enlivened spaces with contrasting patterns and the addition of colour. In saying this it has been cleverly done so that this home still retains a traditional feel.

A Cotswold Country House Renovation

The Cotswolds is one of my favourite places to visit in the UK, in fact my mothers sister used to live in a wee cottage in Bourton on the Water, a picture post card village in the most picturesque part of England. I loved wandering around Bourton and the surrounding villages looking at all the quaint cottages and grand manor houses, so when I spotted this Cotswold country house, I couldn't resist sharing it.

Decorating Easter Style

Easter for most is an indication of Spring, maybe a long awaited break from the monotony of work and a joyous time to spend with family, not to mention a time to indulge in the infamous, chocolate Easter Egg. Easter used to be more about eggs and not so much about decorating, however, these days it's taken a little more seriously and most people find a way of incorporating Easter into their home decor.

This is a bathroom that goes above and beyond a small space for passing through. The designer has put her creative and architectural knowledge into "his and hers", individual spaces making the room, not only functional but beautiful too.

A Modern Take on Chinoiserie

1. A chinoiserie design painted cabinet

Chinoiserie, a strange word some might say, others may conjure up a mix of patterns depicting birds and flowers and colours of emerald green, blue and emperor red, a somewhat confusing space of oriental origins. This may depict chinoserie of the 18th Century, however today's designers have a less busy approach to making it work for this century and today's homes.
